Bass and Vibration
“Music is the universal language of mankind”
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
In this day and age we fight with tools; bombing, shooting, and maiming the different, the difficult and the strange because of the way they look like, what they believe in, or the language they speak. In the end aren’t we all people, yes. What if there was a way to bridge the gap between us all, one thing that made us all one, one thing that didn’t judge or discriminate, there is. Music.
Music, the one thing that levels the playing field, no matter what race, gender, or religion you are when there is music none of that matters, we are equal. Music transcends morals, beliefs, and inhibitions. Jimi Hendrix once said “Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.” If you have something that you want to be heard, break down the barriers of languages; convey it through the bass and the movement. Music is heard everywhere, uniting the masses, through expression and passion.
Musicians aren’t just performers that make noise, they’re artists; and we are just canvas for their emotions disguised ink, their painting their thoughts and feelings through bass and treble acrylics, creating a masterpiece. Under one beat we dance and sing, we dance and sing together, no matter the language everyone can understand the emotions that flow into their soul via music.
You may not believe this but after you experience what I have you may reconsider. My first encounter with this feeling was also my first encounter with Peace Love Unity Respect. I have always been in love with music, but going to electric dance festivals, or raves, rave just connotes young adults using drugs and listening to techno, it is much more than that. I watched as people from all walks of life embraced each other, like they were family. Skin color didn’t matter, everyone was equal, and everyone strived for the same thing, P.L.U.R, at this moment the letter I want to emphasize to you it U or Unity. Because where are we going to get if we are fighting each other, nowhere. I had never seen many different people dancing and singing together as if nothing else mattered, no was judged, because I’m sure the “Let your freak flag fly” rule was permanently implemented. No prejudice, no discrimination, no judging, and no difference, everyone was treated like a living breathing person, no matter what they looked like or what they believed. I was part of a something very special, I was part of a whole.
“The style of life is a unity because it has grown out of the difficulties of early life and out of the striving for a goal.”
Alfred Adler
